Jade Rude
The Event, 2012

09.03.12 – 24.04.12

The Event focuses on the absurdity of tracking time and our persistent need to continue this pursuit. The installation at *QueenSpecific –  a countdown clock –  addresses this notion, counting down without any inherent purpose, the days of its public exhibition.

Jade Rude is a Toronto-based artist and designer who works in a variety of media including sculptural installation, photography and video. Her work explores how the formal qualities of objects can be altered to generate moments of curious disruption and playful confusion. Rude studied social theory in Norway, art and design in England and graduated from the Alberta College of Art. She has participated in residencies that include the Banff Centre. In addition to Canada, she has exhibited in the US, England, Japan, Columbia and MAMBA in s Aires.
