07.09.18 – 22.10.18

strange spot is a peephole viewing experience referencing Dada experimental collage & film practices that engage with notions of the absurd & erotic. Playing with the performative nature of making and how it passes through found images of erotica, ‘strange spot’ reclaims representations of female sexuality & solidarity.

Sondra Meszaros is a multidisciplinary artist currently based in Calgary, Alberta. Her practice is concerned with representations of female sexuality through feminist and psychoanalytic lenses using collage-based methodologies and materials.

Meszaros’ work has been exhibited at Fortnight Institute and 60 Wall Gallery, Deutsche Bank Art New York, The Armory Show, Art Basel, ARCO Madrid International Contemporary Art Fair, The Toronto International Art Fair, and The VIP – Viewing In Private International Contemporary Art Fair. Meszaros has completed residencies at the International Studio Curatorial Program in New York and Artscape Gibraltor Point Toronto Island. She holds a BFA from the Ontario College of Art and Design University and a MFA from Windsor University. Meszaros is represented by Corkin Gallery in Toronto and Jarvis Hall Gallery in Calgary and is sessional faculty in the School of Visual Arts at the Alberta College of Art & Design.
